In the U.T.S (Unit of Social Work) of Olvera City Council is formed by the following professional staff:

1. A Social Worker.
2. An Administrative Asssitant.
3. A Psychologist, shared with other townships.
4. An Educator, shared with other townships.

The different attended pogrammes are:

1. Information Service, Assessment and Orientation

This service responds to the neccessity and the right of the citizens to be informed about the social resources in their community and the available options for their personal problems, familiar or communal. Its goal is to spread and to move the social resources closer to the community.

The information is the most basic right and, for respoding suitably, in every city council there is a social worker who attends, assess and directs the demands of the citizen towards the appropiate social resource.

The actions over the users are reflected in a computerized file which allows to make plannings in the real data base.

In the processed benefits and resources, it is remarkable:

- Application and renewal of the Large Family Accreditation.
- Application for the Social Salary  (Programme of Solidarity of Andalucians for Eradication of Marginalization and Inequality in Andalucia).
- Application for PNC (Noncontributive pensions).
- Annual revision of PNC, LISMI and FAS.
- Application for Disability Certificate.
- Application and renewal of the Parking Card for the Disabled.
- Application for the card Andalucía Sesentaycinco y Sesentaycinco gold.
- Application for the Hydrotheraphy Social Programme.
- Application for vacancies in the Programme of Holidays for the Elderly.
- Application for Economic Support for Andalucian Families (multiple births).
- Application for the Home for the Elderly.
- Grants for new technologies for Andalucian Families.
- Calls for Individual Institutional Grants.

1. Calls for Individual Public Grants (Orthopedic devices, hearing aids, bathroom adaptations,…)

- Application for reduction of the water bill.
- Indidual grants of the Programme for Reduction of Truansy for harvests.
- Application for joning the School Residence for the Children of Temporal Emigrants.
- Issuance of reports for the vacancy of Social Risk for the Socio-Educative Nursery School.
- Application for Working Life Report.
- Report of being up-to-date in the Social Security fees or of any debt.
- Various paperworks with the Treasury.
- Housing rehabilitation.

2. Service of Home Help

Its purpose is to make possible the permanence of people being in their habitual environment thanks to the preventive, educative and assistance services. It is fixed by improving the welfare in the user’s residence, helping to those people who have limitations in their personal autonomy, problems of social isolation or that they precise any other kind of support.

The given grants for this service are domestic, personal, cultural and psycho-social ones. Some specialized staff is trained and recycled to assist overall the elderly, but also to assist the sick, disabled or families.

The support of new technologies has been recently integrated with the Telecare System.

This system allows the user, before any eventuality, a fast contact with specialized staff aware of his/her familiar and public health situation, who would help inmediately. This contact is possible 24 hours a day the whole year.

This service should be appealed to the Social Worker of the Social and Community Services of the pertinent city council.

3. Cohabitation and Social Reintegration Services

It supports the cohabitation and the reintegration working over the situations at social exclusion risk. It intercedes with specific actions over adults or the elderly and it fosters the implication of the community in their attention and care. It procures the detection of early issues related to persons, families or groups for recovering the active linkage to their social environment and for seeking factual alternatives.

There are technical staff  (Social Workers, Educators and Psychologists) in the programmes of this service with actions that promote the standardization of families with psycho-social problems, prevent the social exclusion and ease the integration.

* Infant and Junio Activities (Playroom).
* Workshops of parental skills.
* Truancy programme.
* Water physiotherapy programme (for the disabled).

4. Social Cooperation Service

This service intends to promote the social participation of the citizen in his/her community matters.

Locally, it looks for the promotion of the Municipal Councils of Social Services as a means of  arousing the participation of neighbours in the field of social needs.

Groupally, it includes the promotion of self-help and cohabitation. The means of participation which are promoted, are mainly the partnership and the voluntary work. In this field, the three main activities are the recruitment, disclosure and training of the volunteers.

Suplementary benefits (Income support)

Two main types: Grant of Social Emergence and Economical Familiar Grant.

The Grant of Social Emergence is not a periodic grant; it is punctual. It attends the urgent and unforeseeable needs and its aim is to support those families which are in exceptional circumstances and cannot resolve it by their own.

The Economical Familiar Grant is periodic, temporal and preventive. It is granted to families which are at psycho-social risk situations for covering the basic needs of those who are underage 18 at their expense, avoiding internment. Its philosophy is based on the right that any underage has to stay in his/her own family, by considering that it is the most suitable means for his/her growth.

It represents a complementary resource to the familiar intervention which is carried out by the multidisciplinar equipment above mentioned.

The approval of these two types of grant depends on the Tehcnical Comissions settled up and governed by the criteria and scales of the pertinent Programmes to the Biannual Plan of acting in course.

OTHER SERVICES PROVIDED

WOMEN’S DESK SERVICE:

It is attended by a technician who moves weekly to the Centre of Social Community Services:

- Information, orientation, advice and support to women.
- Orientation and pre-forming to employment of women.
- C.I.M (Centre of Women’s Information). Free service of information and advice aimed at every women of the region of Sierra de Cádiz.

It offers:

> Information about rights and opportunities, available resources, social participation, meetings,…
> Promotion and organization of workshops, conferences, courses,…
> Legal counseling, receiving information and counseling about family law, criminal law, labour law.
> Library in the Regional Centre of Information for Women.
> Programme of Prevention of Drug Addiction (Cities against Drugs).
